A couple weeks ago at the BPS spring classic I was talking with a couple of other guys about the Wamplers lake tournament situation. In the last meeting Roger had said that he is allowing the Oakland Bass Masters to fish the same day as us. Someone had suggested they launch later than us and weigh in earlier but if were blasting off at 8:30am that morning which is already late I doubt they're gonna be ok with blasting off at 9am. These inland lakes are already tough enough to fish, by adding 20 or so additional boats out there it makes it even tougher and makes the lake pretty congested with boats. Plus our opponent would be seeing wherever our guys are fishing and maybe they will fish those spots the next week during the MBI. I think for this tournament we need the lake to ourselves as best as possible because we need to fish as many areas as we can and gain as much knowledge as possible because the MBI is on this lake. This is going to be hard to do with another club out there.

I've had some other guys agree with me on this subject so I'm just putting it out there for discussion. Maybe we could choose to fish this tournament the week before(Sept. 6th) or two weeks before(Aug. 30th)? Or we could just tell the Oakland Bass Masters that they need to reschedule? That's my take....

The weekend of the 6th is Labor Day so that's a no-go.  I don't like the idea of sharing the lake either.  You really opened a can of worms with this post Wink

No cans of worms will be open on this. We all voted on the date. from day one we knew that they would be fishing the same day. The only reason we said that we should launch first is that we got our permit in first. There is plenty of parking for all of the boats for both clubs. We are just hoping  that we can agree how to launch. My opinion is that they should reschedule if they think it's a problem.

Actually if im not mistaken we didn't know they were going to be fishing with us when we voted on this lake and date, Roger told us this at the last meeting I believe. But I do agree with Kevin in that they should have to reschedule.

these lakes can get crowded with just our club on the water... add another 20 boats...  i can only imagine how small the lake is going to fish...  everyone will be fishing used water after the first hour...  personally, i would rather fish the mbi lake a few weeks before than the week before, except st clair.  on inland lakes, if you take 5 keepers out of a spot, there is a pretty good chance you won't be able to catch a limit there just a week later... i would rather have time for those spots to replinish with new fish...  maybe too late for this year, but maybe in the future  ??  nitroderrek

I agree its not fair to us. we pulled are permit first so we should have the final say on the times if we are going to fish the lake with both clubs. they should have to delay there blast off time. thats the only fair thing to do. if they dont like it they can find a diffrent lake to fish... Smiley

I am not looking foward to fishing Wamplers with another club on the same day either. It sucks.I would not be opposed to changing our dates but we shouldn't have had to.Louie

We got a permit first for this day but they were also given a permit. The park told them that we were also fishing that weekend. Out of common courtesy they called to tell us that they also had a permit. If this is going to be such a problem we can fish something else

This is my opinion.... I dont know what the big deal is. Sure we pulled our permit first, so we ask the other club to start a hour after us.   We already voted on this lake for this date, knowing that some other club might try and pick the same date. We even thought that the other club had already put in for it and we still wanted to try for the same date.   I never fished the lake before and I have no idea how big the lake is, but if the DNR is allowing the 2 clubs, permits for the same day there must be enough room for the both of us. I disagree with the idea that we shouldnt fish because the other club will see where we are fishing, on the flip side we will be able to see where they are fishing also..  About fishing USED water, just because somebody fished an area doesnt mean your not going to be able to catch a fish there, not everyone uses the same technics or speed of retrieves. As fishermen we need to adapt to the ever changing conditions.  How many times have any of us gone to a ramp and it is almost full? did you turn around and go else where or stay and do the best that you can under the circumstances. I dont mean to upset anyone with my opinion or start a battle about all the possiblities, its just my opinion that we already agreed and voted on this lake and date, and we should keep it the way it is and adapt to the circumstances.

The DNR is always doing something that is bone-headed that isn't rational. I wouldn't be going by that . I guess everyone will know in advance that the Wampler tournament will be the lowest stringers and that will be the tournament the 99 percent of the club throw out as there worst tournament. So some people will say why drive all the way down there and throw it out anyway.I hope I'm wrong and that everyone catches a limit. Louie
