Hey guys...I have a buddy coming to town this Friday from WI and we plan to head over to St Clair.  I haven't been out much this year, so any current advice on locations would be appreciated.  I know the SM weren't real cooperative during the last OCBA tourney, however hopefully they're turning on again.  I know he and I can hit the Mile roads and catch some numbers, but would also like to take him to a few other spots if there's opportunity.  We plan to stay in US waters only, so I know that limits us a bit.  Thanks for any help you can give!

If you are looking for size I would suggest the Rivers, St. Clair or Detroit River.  Since you only have MI. License’s the Mile Roads are still your best bet.  Try and stay in 12 to 14 feet of water dragging tubes.

The 9 mile rock piles are a good spot early in the morning, and then move out to deeper water as the day goes on...

Thanks guys.

Dave- serious on the rivers being an option right now?  We probably won't run that far either direction, but interesting to know.  What about the channels?  I actually was contemplating the middle, but thought it was too early yet.

Dan-  Funny about the LM....heard you beat all those guys with green fish last time...nice job!  I thought about showing my buddy some of the St Clair LM late in the day.  Which canals do you suggest?  I've always found most pretty muddy and choked out by now.

Jeff- where you been on Wed nights for NBAA?  I miss seeing your mom!

Both Rivers are redy to go and some pretty big fish are being caught.  As for the Middle Channel yes I would suguest going out to the 2nd or 3rd bouy and fishing the weed beds with Spinnerbaits, rattle traps and tubes.

well i havent been out there lately for the largies. all the largemouth i caught were in stained-muddy water, pay attention to whats going on in the water look for any sign of life mostly blugills and the bass shouldnt be far away. the largemouth wont be as strong as it was during the C&R season but apparently there were still some decent fish in them. so i cant really say which is better just look for life and cover water. i had to really work to get that 16 1/4, i only had 9-10lbs for my first five and managed to cull 4 times to get the end result.

Dave....2nd or 3rd bouy on the north side of the channel?  I assume you mean when coming from the lake side?  Thanks again!

I would fish both side of the Channel coming out into the Lake.  Go out even to the third black bouy you will see the weed beds.  If your going out on Saturday there will be a lot of Torunament fishermen out there so go early.
